Public Engagement Event

Wednesday 24 April, 12.15 - 1pm, 91¿ì²¥

In-person event for Students, Staff and Alumni

All 91¿ì²¥ Alumni are warmly invited to join us at our on-campus 2024 Public Engagement Event.

Join us for a programme of presentations as we reflect on the University’s achievements and look toward the opportunities and challenges ahead. There will also be an opportunity to learn about the strategic vision 91¿ì²¥ directly from the University’s most senior figures:

· Chancellor, Professor Alice Brown

· Chair of Court, David Brew

· Principal & Vice-Chancellor, Professor Liz Bacon

Our speakers will look ahead at the challenges and opportunities facing 91¿ì²¥ and the wider higher education sector, with topics including the current funding environment, the need to continue working on widening access, the landscape surrounding developments in artificial intelligence and other key areas.

This public event will be held in the Main Lecture Theatre at 12.15pm on Wednesday 24 April and will be followed by networking and a buffet lunch until approximately 2pm.

Abstract 45 - Bad Boys Make Good Law

In this talk, Nicholas Grier (Professor in Law) explore how difficult it is for the law to maintain the balance encouraging trade and preventing fraud, how rogues and scandals nevertheless shape company law for the better, and how company law is increasingly similar through out the developed world.
